Here’s what I love about what I do
I help people get heard. We work together to bring their ideas to life, their authentic voice to the fore, their story told.
Here's what I hate about what I do even though I've spent the last almost 40 years doing: the writing part. At least the getting-started part. And the finishing-up part. (Weirdly I like the squishy middle part.) I'm like James Michener (“I'm not a good writer. I'm a good re-writer”) without the tan. Or maybe Gloria Steinem (“I do not like to write. I like to have written”) without the groovy hair. I hate that first draft. Really really hate it.*
I've worked with hundreds of authors; the ones I love the most share that 3:00 a.m. Dark Night of the Soul conviction that everything they've written is total bat guano. As a published author, I've been there myself. So I understand where you're coming from.
I don't care if you think you're not a good writer. I'll make you better. And we'll have barrels-of-monkeys fun doing it.
Here's how I can be of service:
Book Proposal Development
I spent 21 years as a professional book editor reading and evaluating these; I've spent the last 19 years writing them. I know what sells; I write the proposals that contain exactly the elements top-level agents and editors need and want.

*Here is a partial list of all the stuff I did while assiduously avoiding drafting this page: Googled writing quotes. Dug out my copy of Bird by Bird so I could read Anne Lamott on writing and still call it work. Played a few games of Chain Factor. (Do not. Do not. Do not go on chainfactor.com or you'll never do an honest day's work again.) Let the cats in and out a few dozen times. Checked the Dow. Posted on Facebook. I could go on, oh lordy, how I could go on.
